Jasmine Days is a novel written by Benyamin, originally published in Malayalam language in 2014 as Mullappoo Niramulla Pakalukal. The English translation of the novel was released in 2018. The book is set in an unnamed Gulf country that is similar to Bahrain, during the Arab Spring revolution of 2011. The story revolves around the life of a young woman, Sameera Parvin, who migrates to the country for a job and later becomes a migrant rights activist. The novel explores themes of identity, patriotism, religion, politics, and cultural differences. The title 'Jasmine Days' refers to the country's jasmine revolution, a term used to describe the peaceful protests that took place during the Arab Spring. The novel won the JCB Prize for Literature and was shortlisted for the Man Booker International Prize in 2019.
